2003 Girls do well in Ottawa!

On May 25th and 26th, the Bradford Eagles 2003 Girls (U10) participated in the Ottawa Icebreaker Tournament hosted by the Ottawa Internationals Soccer Club.  The team represented Bradford well with their determined effort throughout the cold and windy weekend.  They came in second in their group round robin and advanced to the playoff rounds in which they secured their spot in the semi-finals.  They won 3rd place  in their division of 11 teams.  The bronze medal game was won thanks to superb teamwork. The single goal by Christina Gomes and two monster in-game penalty shot saves by Madison Spencer delivered the victory!  Great effort was made by all team members on their 2013 season tournament debut.  Their hard work training at the Bradford Sports Dome over the Fall and Winter with coaches Mike Spencer and Nick Warman was evident.  This was an exciting and  promising start to the 2013 season!  The team, coaches and parents would like to thank all the sponsors for their support, especially the main sponsors Ashley Woodturning and Infinity Group Construction.

This Week on the Soccer Pitch

A great kick off to the competitive soccer season saw The Bradford Soccer Club competitive teams in action through Ontario.
On May 18 and 19, the Bradford Eagles U13 boys travelled to Orangeville to defend their title in
The Stormfront Tournament. The boys played three hard games on Saturday in a round robin format vs Aurora, Georgetown, and South Simcoe. The team finished second behind Georgetown in the division. On Sunday morning, the team faced Richmond Hill White in the semi-final. A hard fought match came down to a penalty shoot-out.  The Eagles came out victorious and advanced to the final to meet Spartacus of North Toronto. A tight back and forth match saw the Eagles come out on top in 1-0 final score.
On May 20th the U-12 Eagles’01 boys (sponsored by ABM Tool and Die Co.) season got off to a great start!  This is the team’s first year playing 11vs11 in the YRSL. The boys played extremely well, winning their first league game 3-2 against Aurora. Good work to Austin Rodrigues, Hollan Spataro, and Daniel Yousif for the goals. Strong play by Andrew Ariza between the pipes preserved a good early season win.
The Eagles’99 U-14 Girls (sponsored by Roddie Saunders of Century 21) started their 2013 season by playing SC Toronto in Cherry Beach on May 22.  It was a hard fought match that ended in a 0-0 draw. A strong effort in net by Kate Turner and on defense by Cortnee Andrade, Chantal Lott, and Marissa Hunt kept the shut out.  A strong effort by Sabrina Pea and Madelina Liougas in the midfield produced a number of scoring opportunities. A special mention OliviahTaylor, for all her help on the bench, the team is all hoping she will be back in the line up soon.
Bradford Eagles U11 Boys began their season also on May 22. It was a great first game in the YRSL First Division against the Oakridges Knights. The boys opened the season with a hard fought 5-4 win!  Goals scored by Christopher Warren, Ryan Jensen, Nathan Moniz and Hugo Ponte.  The team relied on great defensive work by Sasha Chervonyy, Adam Lapierre, Noah Miranda, and Gabe Nogueira.  Devon Martin and Filip Zendelek where great sharing the Goalkeeping duties. An outstanding  start for the boys in the YRSL!

May 22, also saw The Bradford Eagles’00 girls in action versus Glen Shields at home in CGSL L4 Premier play. The Eagles performed well in a 1-0 victory. Later that night girls of the U-18 team where victorious against Woodbridge 3-1 in the CGSL L3 division.

The U15B Girls Bradford Eagles (sponsored by Trillium Hearing Centre), played their season home opener on May 23 at Cericola. In spite of cold temperature and weather conditions the UG15B Bradford Eagles squad team effort, outstanding dedication, continuous focus and commitment rewarded the team with a victory over the Oshawa Kicks with a match score of 2-1.

May 23 also saw the U-12 Girls play the Oakridges Knights in the YRSL. The U-12 girls continued the streak of undefeated Bradford Eagles teams with a 3-1 victory.

A very successful week in competitive play for the Bradford Eagles!  Next week all of our competitive teams are in action once again and will work in practice to continue the success of the first week.

Bradford Dome

As you may or may not know on Thursday night due to a rip in the material the Bradford Sports Dome collapsed down. The heavy snow on Friday has very much complicated the issue. In order to better access the situation and begin repairs the snow needs to be removed. The management of the dome has reached out to the club to help out. On Sunday February 10 at 10:00am we hoping to have as many members out to the dome to try and remove as much snow as possible. So grab a plastic (no metal) shovel and meet us at the dome to help out. Let's show some club spirit to do our part to get the dome back up and running so we can get back to training.
